Tom Sox add another Demon Deacon to 2018 Roster – Nick DiPonzio

The 2018 Charlottesville Tom Sox are excited to announce that Wake Forest sophomore outfielder Nick DiPonzio will be playing with us next summer.  He will be joining Demon Deacons teammate Bobby Hearn and following in a line of some of our favorite former players and successful Deacs who’ve worn the Tom Sox uniform: Kevin Conway, Bruce Steel, and Drew Loepprich.

DiPonzio is a 6’0; 185 pounder who hits left-handed and runs as well as anyone in the country (6.3 in the sixty). We figures to have a prominent role in the outfield for Wake Forest in the Spring 2018 season. He had 42 ABs in his freshman season (2 HRs). Head Coach Tom Walter has been quoted as saying that Nick will be a “dynamic offensive player for them in very soon.”

From DiPonzio, “I’m very excited to be playing in Charlottesville next summer.  Having observed them from Harrisonburg in 2017, I know of their high standards.  That is what I want from my teammates and myself.  I’ve heard nothing but great things about the Tom Sox organization and can’t think of a better place to spend the summer and work on my game while we compete for a championship.”

From GM Jeff Burton “We’ve absolutely loved our Wake Forest guys in our first 3 years. Coach Tom Walter runs such a great program and his guys show up as professionals ready to do whatever it takes to help us win. Nick is a left handed hitter; a 6.3 runner; who like so many guys we’ve recruited this year, will show up with tremendous experience.  I can’t wait to watch him compete in a Tom Sox uniform this summer.”

Welcome to the Tom Sox, Nick DiPonzio.
