The 2018 Charlottesville Tom Sox Roster

Looking to build on the 2017 Valley League championship, the 2018 roster will feature:

  • 15 juniors
  • 15 sophomores
  • 10 freshman
  • 13 players from Virginia
  • 11 returning players from past teams
  • 11 players from Power 5 conferences
  • 2 D2 players
  • 4 D3 players
  • 3 JUCO players (2 started at Florida State; another at Florida)
We focused on players that have a track record of success and mixed in a number of very highly regarded freshmen. We wanted balance between RHP and LHP; between RHH and LHH…we got both.  We like pitchers who have a history of throwing a lot of strikes and who keep runners off base. We like hitters that know how to handle the bat; work gap to gap; and can run.  Of particular interest to our fans, we currently have 2 UVA players… Will Allocca and Jalen Harrison and 3 players that call Central Virginia home… Jack Morris, Jake Allen, and Harrison.  All 10 of our contracted freshman were named to Perfect Game’s Top 500 players in the country coming out of high school…4 of them have recorded pitches at 94 mph or higher and another 3 are LHP at least 6’5 tall.  7 of our players are listed as 2-way players (both pitchers and position) by their respective schools.  We have 2 players that were summer baseball All Americans in 2017…Michael Wielansky and Dom D’Allesandro.  Jake Allen will become the first player in Tom Sox history to suit up for us in 3 different seasons.
