Tom Sox add another Gator for 2018 – Cam Weinberger

The 2018 Charlottesville Tom Sox are excited to welcome University of Florida RHP Cam Weinberger to this year’s squad. He is a 6’1; 215 pounder from Boca Raton, FL who attended Spanish River High School.

Although Weinberger redshirted during the Spring 2017 season, he enjoyed the Gators run to the National Championship before turning in an awesome summer season in the New York Collegiate Baseball League. He had 8 appearances, all in a starting role.  He went 4-0 while throwing 52 innings; had a 2.59 ERA while striking out 43 and walking only 16.  He was named to the NYCBL All Star Game, and at the conclusion of the season, was named 1st Team All NYCBL.

Weinberger absolutely loves the culture of the Gators program, and expects to find similar in Charlottesville based on what he’s heard from his coaching staff and teammates that have played here before him. “Florida is such a unique place.  We expect to win and last year’s National Championship only renewed our passion to be the best. This fall, we have seen a seamless integration of new players into a program filled with veterans.  From what I hear, the Tom Sox have similar expectations. Winning. Doing things the right way. Recruitment of high character guys from all over the country.  How awesome is it to be in a position to win a National Championship at school and also in summer ball.”

From GM Jeff Burton “when we get guys from Coach Kevin O’Sullivan and Coach Craig Bell at Florida, we know they will come here well trained and ready to contribute to our winning culture. We are so excited to add Cam (along with Kirby McMullen) to our ball club for the coming summer. Finding guys like this that have a history of success, both individually and as part of a winning college program, helps us set the table for another successful season.”

Welcome to the Tom Sox, Cam Weinberger.
