Hot Streak Continues for New Market as Tom Sox Fall in Game 1, 16-4

The hot streak continued for the New Market Rebels as they picked up their twelfth straight win in game one, 16-4. An early lead for the Tom Sox quickly evaporated as Valley Baseball League MVP Andrew Eyster went 3-5 with a double and four RBI. Chase Anderson and Call Graham put together strong outings for the Rebels on the mound. New Market will have a chance to win the Valley Baseball League Championship tomorrow night at Rebel Park.
The Charlottesville Tom Sox jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the first inning after the first four batters reached on hits off of Rebels starter Chase Anderson. However, the lead was short lived as New Market answered back in the second with four runs off of Charlottesville Starter, Sean McCracken. In the fourth inning, Cameron Weinberger came on in relief of McCracken and New Market extended its lead by four more runs making it 8-3 Rebels.
After adding three more runs off of Niko Jenkins, Colby Lee was able to quiet New Market for two innings of solid work. Meanwhile, Anderson found his grove following the rough first inning and did not allow another hit until the fifth inning in his five-inning outing. The Tom Sox trimmed the lead to 11-4 when Nick Oar scored on a wild pitch in the sixth. The Rebels scored the final five runs of the contest in the seventh to get to the final 16-4 score.
Zac Ching picked up an RBI-double while Will Allocca added a two-RBI-single to lead the offense for Charlottesville. Chase Anderson earned the win for New Market and Sean McCracken took the loss for the Tom Sox. New Market will have a chance to win the Valley Baseball League Championship tomorrow night at Rebel Park. First pitch for game two is slated for 7:30pm.
