Johnson’s Walkoff Gives Charlottesville Tom Sox Victory Over Harrisonburg Turks

A walk-off single led Charlottesville Tom Sox past Harrisonburg Turks 6-5 on Wednesday. The game was tied at five with Charlottesville Tom Sox batting in the bottom of the ninth when Brandon Johnson singled off of Grant Stewart, driving in one run.

Harrisonburg Turks took an early lead in the first inning. Nussman singled on a 2-2 count in the first inning, scoring one run.

After Harrisonburg Turks scored one run in the top of the fourth, Charlottesville Tom Sox answered with one of their own. Harrisonburg Turks scored when Tevin Mitchell doubled off of Matt Olson, driving in one run. Charlottesville Tom Sox then answered when Bryce Windham singled off of Christopher Farish, driving in one run.

Layne Looney earned the win for Charlottesville Tom Sox. He went three innings, allowing one run, one hit, striking out seven, and walking one. Grant Stewart took the loss for Harrisonburg Turks. He pitched one inning, allowing two runs, one hit, and walking one.

Rick Spiers started the game for Charlottesville Tom Sox. He threw three innings, surrendering one run, three hits, and striking out two. Farish started the game for Harrisonburg Turks. He pitched four innings, surrendering two runs, four hits, and striking out three.
