SCHEDULE
Dates for the 2027 season are forthcoming. Applicants are expected to be available for all scheduled games, including make-up games.
COLLEGE CREDIT
Many schools recognize internships for class credit or community service.

Game Operations Internship
The Tom Sox Game Operations Internship Program combines game-day operations and fan engagement, giving students hands-on experience running a professional-style game day from setup through the final out — including merchandise, admissions, on-field promotions, and fan interaction.
Required Qualifications:
- Comfortable interacting with fans, including children and adults
- Available to attend all home games, including make-up games
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with sports management or marketing field
- Strong oral communication skills
- Basic understanding of baseball

Analytics Internship
The Tom Sox Analytics Internship provides students with an interest in sports analytics an opportunity to learn more about the field. Interns chart pitchers and hitters during games, track pitch radar data to evaluate velocity and pitch shape, and maintain the team's player performance database to support coaching decisions.
Required Qualifications:
- Strong understanding of baseball rules and statistics
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with sports analytics field and/or data analysis
- Strong oral communication skills

Broadcast Media Internship
The Tom Sox Media Internship Program provides aspiring sports journalists with the tools and platform to create original video, audio, and written content on a daily basis. Positions include Sports Information Director, Play-by-Play/Color Commentary (2 positions), and Sideline Reporter — applicants should indicate their preferred position in their application.
Required Qualifications:
- Enrolled in a 2 or 4-year college degree program in Broadcast Media, Journalism, Communications, or a related field
- Submission of a demo reel or showreel highlighting relevant experience
- Availability for majority of summer period, encompassing dates of May 25–July 31
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in front of the camera or on-air
- Strong written & oral communication skills
- Basic understanding of baseball

Photography & Video Production Internship
The Tom Sox Creative Media Internship Program provides aspiring sports creatives with hands-on experience shooting live game action, media days, and community events. Positions include Photography (2) and Video Production (1) — applicants should indicate their preferred position in their application.
Required Qualifications:
- Ability to provide and operate your own professional camera gear for the season
- Submission of a photography portfolio or video production reel
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with photography and/or videography
- Knowledge of sports media fields

Graphic Design Internship
The Tom Sox Graphic Design internship provides students with an opportunity to be the team graphic designer, developing seasonal templates, milestone graphics, and social media content that keeps team colors, fonts, and logos consistent across every platform.
Required Qualifications:
- Experience with Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Creative Suite applications
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of sports media fields
- Experience with graphic design for a sports team or organization
- Basic understanding of baseball

Game Day Scoreboard Keeper Internship
The Tom Sox Scoreboard Keeper Internship gives a student with baseball scorekeeping experience the opportunity to run the team's electronic scoreboard, entering balls, strikes, outs, runs, hits, and errors in real time and coordinating with umpires on official scoring decisions.
Required Qualifications:
- Prior experience with baseball scorekeeping and a deep understanding of the game's rules
- Available to attend all home games
Preferred Qualifications:
- Comfortable setting up, testing, and operating electronic scoreboard equipment
- Strong attention to detail

Athletic Training Internship
The Tom Sox Athletic Training Internship provides students in athletic training or sports medicine programs the opportunity to shadow and assist professional athletic trainers during home games, supporting injury prevention, first-aid care, and treatment under the direction of the Head Trainer.
Required Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in or a recent graduate of an athletic training or sports medicine program
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with injury evaluation, treatment, or rehabilitation support
- Strong record-keeping and communication skills

Team Mascot Internship
The Charlottesville Tom Sox Mascot internship provides individuals interested in becoming a college or professional mascot the ability to learn the craft and practice it on a daily basis as the team mascot, Prairiewether Lewis ("Lewie") — performing at home games, leading crowd participation, and representing the team at community events like the Valley League All-Star Game.
Required Qualifications:
- High-energy individual
- Comfortable interacting with fans, including children and adults
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with marketing and/or mascotting
- Basic understanding of baseball

Game Day Music Operator Internship
The Tom Sox Music Operator Internship provides a student the opportunity to run the team's in-game audio, playing walk-up songs, sound effects, and between-inning music while keeping crowd energy high throughout the game.
Required Qualifications:
- Understanding of baseball rules
- Available to attend all home games
Preferred Qualifications:
- Comfortable operating audio mixing boards and sound equipment
- Ability to coordinate cues with the scoreboard operator and announcer
