NewsPlex – June 22 – Tom Sox Fall in Sperling’s 2nd Start
NEW MARKET, Va. (NEWSPLEX) — Evan Sperling allowed four runs in three innings and despite a comeback, the Tom Sox fell at New Market 8-4 Thursday night.
The Rebels scored all four runs off Sperling in the second inning. His defense failed the right-hander, as runs were scored on a groundout, and error and a wild pitch.
Charlottesville would come back to tie things up in the fifth. Ari Sechopoulos hit a double to right field to bring home Rick Spiers. Then, Sechopoulos scored on a wild pitch to tie things up at 4-4.
Things unraveled for the Tom Sox in the eighth. The Rebels hit for the cycle in the inning, including and RBI triple, single and a two-run home run to make it 8-4.
Despite the loss, the Tom Sox still sit a half game up on Waynesboro in the South Division at 10-5 overall.
