WAYNESBORO, Va. - The Tom Sox are looking to extend its three game win streak as the team travels 40 minutes west down I-64 to take on the Waynesboro Generals.

Let’s see how the game turned out:

The Generals took a 1-0 lead on a two-out single from Ben Geary after Evan Alwine retired the first two batters.

In the top of the second, Brayden Bachman (East Carolina) drove in a run on a two-out single between the third baseman and shortstop to tie the game at one.

Waynesboro would get the run back on another two-out hit in the bottom of the second, this time on a double from Hunter Wallace. With runners at first and third and two outs, Dom Cafferillo (Georgetown) threw a missile to second base to catch the runner stealing.

In the top of the third, Grayson McCollum (Kennesaw State) and Caiden Combs (Auburn) ripped back-to-back singles with one out to put runners at the corners. The ‘Sox missed an opportunity with the bases loaded, hitting into a double play to retire the side.

The Generals would tack on three more in the bottom of the third to make it 4-1.

With a runner at third and one out, Bachman ripped a ball to the third baseman for an RBI groundout to make it 4-2. Chase Jackson stole two bags in the inning as well, but was stranded at third.

Alwine threw his first scoreless inning of the game in the bottom of the fourth, setting the Generals down in order. But the fun for Alwine did not end there as he set the Generals down again in order in the following inning.

The Generals got a run on a sac fly, but Cafferillo gunned another runner at second to end the seventh inning.

Waynesboro ended up tacking on three more to make it 8-2 going into the top of the 9th.

Will Yow (Virginia) started the top of the ninth with a triple to right-center field. After a passed ball, Yow came in to score and made the deficit five, but that would not be enough for the ‘Sox.

Waynesboro improved its record to 12-4 with the 8-3 win while the Tom Sox fell to 6-10.

Up Next: The ‘Sox take on Culpeper in a Sunday matinee on Father’s Day with first pitch coming at 3:00 P.M EST. The Tom Sox will look to try to start another win streak at CHO Airport Field.
