Former 'Sox Pitcher Bradley Hanner Called Up By Yankees

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - Former Tom Sox pitcher Bradley Hanner is headed to the Major Leagues!

According to ESPN MLB insider Jeff Passan, the righty has been called up by the Yankees to join the club's bullpen for its series against the Seattle Mariners.

The Rhoadesville, Virginia native becomes the second former Tom Sox player to earn the call this season, joining catcher Cooper Ingle in making his debut.

Hanner pitched in two games for the Tom Sox during the 2018 season, striking out three batters across two innings while earning a save in his second outing against the Covington Lumberjacks.

After spending the Spring at Patrick Henry Community College, the Minnesota Twins selected Hanner in the 21st round. He elected to sign with the team and began his pro career that summer, pitching in 11 games in rookie ball that season.

Hanner would work his way up to High A in 2022 with the Twins, before the organization placed him on waivers following the season. He was picked up by the Guardians that offseason and assigned to AA to begin the next campaign.

He spent 2023 between the Guardians' AA affiliate Akron and the Arizona Fall League. Hanner earned a call-up to AAA during the 2024 season.

Following the 2025 season, which he spent in AAA, he elected free agency and signed a contract with the Yankees.

Hanner has thrown 51.1 innings in AAA for the Scranton-Wilkes-Barre Railriders this season to the tune of a 2.10 ERA.

His call-up makes him the ninth player in Tom Sox history to reach the Majors. He joins Vinne Pasquantino (Royals), Wyatt Langford (Rangers) and Trey Yesavage (Blue Jays) as former 'Sox currently with Major League ball clubs.
