Official roster announcements start today for the newest batch of Tom Sox players, but that doesn’t mean we stop talking about our former stars.

We’re coming up on the halfway point of the college baseball season, and a number of student-athletes that came through Charlottesville are making their mark all around the country.

Let’s dive into another week of stellar performances and updates from former members of the ‘Sox across the baseball world.

Derek Williams, OF, Miami, ‘Sox class of 2023

Williams has earned himself a number of midseason accolades with his stellar performance to start 2026. The Hurricanes sit at 22-7 on the season, and the veteran outfielder has started all 29 of their games so far.

He earned a spot on the Perfect Game Midseason All-American Third Team that was released on Wednesday.

The 2023 Valley League Home Run Derby Champ had yet another stellar weekend as Miami took the weekend series against Clemson. He boasts an impressive .415 batting average this year, and has belted 11 home runs and 47 RBIs.

Robbie Lavey, C/1B, George Washington, ‘Sox class of 2024

The Buster Posey Award Midseason Watchlist was announced on Wednesday, and Lavey was one of the 50 names on the list. The award is given out every season to recognize the best catcher in college baseball.

Lavey was a key piece of the 2024 VBL title, knocking 32 hits and 22 RBIs during his summer in Charlottesville. This season with the Revolutionaries, he has accumulated 34 hits and 19 RBIs through 26 games played.

Lavey, Assistant Coach Ramon Garza and GW sit in the middle of the Atlantic 10 standing at the moment.

Jackson Sirois, INF, Maryland, ‘Sox class of 2025

Much like his season in Charlottesville, Sirois has had a torrent stretch after starting his season off on the slower side.

The Terp collected 3 hits across the weekend series against a Big Ten opponent in USC including a homer in game two. He followed up his stellar weekend in Maryland’s mid-week game slugging two more bombs in a win over Richmond.

One of the biggest transfer adds for the Terrapins this season, Sirois has blossomed into a starter-caliber infielder.

Preston Gamster, INF, TCU, ‘Sox class of 2025

Gamster starred in the Horned Frogs’ series sweep over the red hot Texas Tech Red Raiders.

In game one the veteran hit an RBI-double propelling the Frogs into the lead. Game two saw him collect another two hits including a late game homer in an extra-inning thriller. The Horned Frogs would take game three to secure a signature series victory in Fort Worth

After multiple instances of late game heroics in Charlottesville, Gamster has been a spark for TCU this season.

Caden Ferraro, UTL, Texas Tech, ‘Sox class of 2024

Ferraro has continued his outstanding play since we last covered him. He has been a key piece of the Red Raiders’ winning record all spring.

His average currently sits at .432 on the season. This comes after he collected two hits in games one and three against TCU. Following the disappointing series loss to the Frogs, he sent two over the wall in a mid-week win against Abilene Christian, plus adding two more hits for good measure.

Though he now ranks fifth in batting average in the Big 12, it's still been a monster season for the Blinn transfer and VBL champ.

Alex Bouche, INF/RHP, ECU, ‘Sox class of 2023

One of the many two-way players to pass through Charlottesville, Bouche has fulfilled both roles for ECU this season.

Bouche entered ECU’s game against UNC-Wilmington on Tuesday looking to close out the contest after taking five at-bats as a hitter. Entering in the 8th inning, he pitched an inning and ⅓ to close out another Pirate win. The Virginia native also took five at bats in that contest.

For a team hoping to find its footing again, ECU will look to Bouche and his two-way talent to help them pick up some tough wins.

Isaac Fix, LHP, Davidson, ‘Sox class of 2024

A veteran of the Valley League, Fix has found a home to play professional baseball after spending a season with the Tom Sox.

Fix pitched last year for the Williamsport Crosscutters and Davidson Wildcats, making 32 appearances and 15 starts across both levels. Fix was selected 6th overall in the recent Atlantic League draft.

Fix will now play his pro baseball for the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs of the South Division of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball, an independent partner league of Major League Baseball. A big step for Fix continuing his baseball journey with another squad.
