'Sox Across the Nation: Week Ten
By: Luke Stefanisko & Ben Rekosh
Ten weeks of ‘Sox Across the Nation… this season is flying by. That means we are inching closer to the return of Tom Sox baseball (37 days, to be exact).
As always, there is so much to talk about. Let’s continue our coverage of former ‘Sox players making waves across the baseball landscape.
Carter Cunningham, OF, Vancouver Canadians, ‘Sox class of 2022
After leaving ECU as one of the greatest Pirates of all-time, the former VBL champ has been excellent for the Blue Jays High-A affiliate this season.
Across 58 at-bat’s, Cunningham is hitting .310 with 18 hits and 21 RBI’s. He’s also slugged six homers, including two in last week's series against the Spokane Indians. In total, he collected seven hits throughout the series.
Recently named Northwest League Player of the Week, Cunningham appears poised to move up the ranks of the Blue Jays system.
Fisher Jameson, RHP, Spokane Indians, ‘Sox class of 2022
Another member of the 2022 VBL Championship squad, Fisher Jameson has had success in the Northwest League to start the season.
Jameson has played more of a long relief role this season, after making several starts in Low-A last year. His most recent appearance came on Friday the 17th against Vancouver, in which he pitched four scoreless frames while fanning seven Canadian batters to pick up the Spokane win.
Watching him continue to develop through Colorado's minor league ranks will be a treat for years to come.
Hudson Lutterman, INF, Virginia Tech, ‘Sox class of 2025
One of the biggest surprises across the ACC has been Hudson Lutterman’s development. But to those who watched him last year in Charlottesville, it is no shocker.
Huddy had an excellent series against Pittsburgh, spurring the Hokies to a series win. In game one he recorded two hits. In game two he blasted a long ball to left. And in Sunday’s weekend clincher, he hit a no-doubt home run that earned the Hokies a walk off win, 6-5.
The sophomore is tied for the team lead in homers and paces the squad in RBIs. One of the most clutch players for the ‘Sox last season, Lutterman has carried that momentum into 2026 for Virginia Tech.
Nathan Fink, OF, Sam Houston, ‘Sox class of 2023 & 2024
Charlottesville native Nathan Fink has put together a solid campaign in his first playing time in Division I baseball.
Over his 28 games for the Bearkats, Fink holds a respectable .253 batting average. He played a key role for Sam Houston in their recent series sweep over New Mexico State. A quiet game one gave way to a game two where he reached base three times with a single and two walks. Fink had his best game of the year and came alive in game three blasting two homers and bringing in four runs.
With three years of eligibility remaining, Fink has plenty of time to make a lasting impact in college baseball.
Henry Ford, INF/OF, Tennessee, ‘Sox class of 2023
One of the premiere players in last summer’s transfer portal, Ford added to his legacy with his performance in last weekend’s series.
In a key weekend battle with Ole Miss, Ford got his series started off right with a two-hit performance including an RBI. After a tough game two, he found his stride in game three becoming the first Volunteer player to record a four-hit game this season. Among those four knocks was a three-run homer and a double.
Currently ranked as the number 58 draft prospect according to MLB.com, Ford will likely be hearing his name called in the early rounds of the MLB draft.
Ryan Wynn, INF, Georgia, ‘Sox class of 2024
After a slow start to the season, one of the most integral parts of the 2024 VBL championship team has earned consistent time in the Bulldogs’ lineup.
Wynn had a great game three of Georgia’s series against Arkansas; he had three hits in six at bats, highlighted by two home runs. This was part of a – and this is not a joke – 26-run output to best the Razorbacks’ 14 runs.
The infielder now has five long balls on the season, and Georgia sits with a 32-10 record atop the SEC standings.
