CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – After the fifth full week of the 2026 season, the ‘Sox have been tearing it up on the diamond.

The numbers back that up in more ways than one. Check out the latest trends, advanced stats and category leaders in this edition of ‘Sox Stat Fax.

ALL-STAR ARMS

The trio of Evan Alwine, Brandon Dahlman (Liberty) and Lucas Cash (Bridgewater) have been selected for the Valley League-Cal Ripken All-Star Game.

Dahlman and Alwine are first and third on the team in strikeouts with 37 and 21 respectively, and they have combined for only 12 walks across 45.2 innings.

Cash has been the true ‘out-getter’ for the squad with 33.1 innings in six starts, which has been highlighted by a seven-inning complete game shutout on June 24 against the Harrisonburg Turks.

CONSISTENCY IN CHARLOTTESVILLE

Dom Cafferillo (Georgetown) ended the week on an 11-game reached base streak and a three-game hitting streak, having posted a .489 on-base percentage since its beginning on June 4. Cafferillo has reached base in all but one game this season.

Tommy Landsnes continues to find a way as he holds a team-leading 15-game on-base streak. As one of the anchors of the ‘Sox lineup, Landsnes has played in 26 of the squad’s 27 games.

Caiden Combs (Auburn) has found a healthy balance of staying patient and making contact, as he is currently riding an eight-game on-base streak and a three-game hitting streak. Combs has drawn nine walks since June 24.

MAINSTAY MCCOLLUM

Grayson McCollum (Kennesaw State) has started more games than anyone else for the ‘Sox this season, and so far he’s been nearly impossible to beat at the plate.

McCollum leads the Tom Sox in batting average (.306), runs (20), extra-base hits (7), and runs batted in (18). He also has a team-leading 30 hits, which is tied for the fourth-most of any hitter in the Valley League.

He has put the ball in play 70.8 percent of the time and has found much success in doing so, ranking second among ‘Sox hitters with a .375 BABIP.

WEAK CONTACT FOR THE WIN

The ‘Sox pitching staff have trusted the defense behind them so far this season, as opposing batters put the ball in play 61.5 percent of the time.

That number ranks third in the Valley League, and it has paid off as the staff has the lowest opponent BABIP in the league at a .304 clip.

Cash leads the ‘Sox by having the ball in play 82.6 percent of the time, and his opponent BABIP stands at a low .276 number.

UP NEXT

The Tom Sox and the league will take a two-day rest for the All-Star Showcase, and the ‘Sox will be back in action on Wednesday against Culpeper. It will be an important game for both teams in the race for the playoffs.
