The Charlottesville Tom Sox won their first game at Veterans Memorial Park this season, defeating the Harrisonburg Turks 11-6 in a crucial South division matchup. The ‘Sox rolled on offense with 14 base hits after only having six in their last two games and scored a run for the first time since Wednesday night.

Tom Sox Drop Low-Scoring Affair to River Bandits, 1-0

The Charlottesville Tom Sox’s cold streak continued against the Woodstock River Bandits in the first game of a doubleheader Saturday, losing 1-0. 

Tom Sox Run-Ruled by Turks, Lose 10-0

The South Division-leading Harrisonburg Turks (20-11) scored seven in the second inning and never looked back, blanking the Charlottesville Tom Sox 10-0 in eight innings. The Tom Sox fall to 18-13 on the season and now sit two games back in the race for the division title, while the Turks remain in a virtual tie for first place with the Waynesboro Generals.

Tom Sox Defeat Braves 7-5, Win 8th of Last 9

The Wahoo spirit was in the air as the Charlottesvillle Tom Sox defeated the Staunton Braves 7-5 in their annual UVA Sports Night. Fans were decked out in blue and orange as many UVA student-athletes attended tonight's game, participating in various crowd-engaging events.

Tom Sox’s 7-Game Win Streak Snapped at Staunton

Hot off their seventh-straight win, the Tom Sox laced up their shoes, packed their bags and headed west to face off against the Staunton Braves. In a game that featured tempers flaring on both ends, the Braves came out on top 8-4.

The Charlottesville Tom Sox rocked the Staunton Braves 12-4 in an offensive overload, contributing to their now-five-game win streak in their 300th all-time game.

The Charlottesville Tom Sox kept their hot streak going following the Fourth of July victory, running the Covington Lumberjacks out of the park 16-0. This performance marks 33 runs scored in the last two games for the Sox.

The Charlottesville Tom Sox continued their hot streak from their doubleheader sweep to the Fourth of July, lighting up the Waynesboro Generals 17-4. The 7-inning run rule came into effect with the game ending in the top of the seventh, allowing fans to leave early for the fireworks. It was a dominant performance from the ‘Sox offense, compiling 14 hits with every batter reaching base.

New Energy, Same ‘Sox: Tom Sox Sweep Winchester in Doubleheader

After sliding below .500 once again, the Charlottesville Tom Sox rode into Winchester on a mission. Clicking on all cylinders, the ‘Sox crushed the Winchester Royals twice by out-scoring them 9-3.

Somebody Call 9-1-1: Tom Sox Burned by Lumberjacks at Home

The Charlottesville Tom Sox lost 7-3 against the Covington Lumberjacks tonight, taking another punch to their ever-so dropping .500 record they entered the game with. With the loss, the ‘Sox are under .500 at the halfway point in the season for the first time since 2016.

Late-Game Heroics Lift Tom Sox over Turks

How else did we think the ‘Sox would get out of their losing streak? Thanks to some late game heroics by Garrett Spikes, the Charlottesville Tom Sox rallied late to knock off the Harrisonburg Turks in a South division showdown at Charlottesville High School, 3-2.

Scoreless in Charlottesville: Tom Sox Shut Out in Doubleheader vs New Market

While the weather might have been beautiful for a June afternoon, the Tom Sox’s offense was far from it as Charlottesville dropped both games in Tuesday’s two-game matchup with the New Market Rebels. In a make-up for a previously scheduled doubleheader that was rained out, the Tom Sox lost both games in identical manners by a score of 3-0, as the two losses became the first back to back shutouts in program history. 

Crushing Conclusion in Covington: Tom Sox Lose Second Straight on Extra Inning Walk-Off

The Charlottesville Tom Sox took a trip of shame to Casey Field in Covington after the Waynesboro Generals snapped their six-game win streak on Thursday night. This was the first time Charlottesville faced Lumberjacks since June 9, and they got a first-hand look at the new energy of the Tom Sox. Unfortunately, the ‘Jacks were able to overcome adversity and defeat the Tom Sox 7-6 after ten innings. 

Tom Sox Win Streak Ends Against Generals

After a herculean effort by Tom Sox players and coaches to prepare the Charlottesville High School field to be playable, the Charlottesville Tom Sox faced off against the Waynesboro Generals in search of extending the Valley League’s longest-running win streak. Although they picked up the momentum in the 8th inning, the ‘Sox were unable to catch up to the early lead gained and sustained by the Generals and walked away with a 10-2 ballgame. 

Tom Sox Defeat Generals 8-4, Win Sixth Straight

The Charlottesville Tom Sox defeated the Waynesboro Generals on the road Tuesday, 8-3. The Tom Sox keep their first place spot in the Valley League, as well as add to their winning streak.

Tom Sox Sweep Cannons, Win Fifth Straight

The Tom Sox swept the Cannons in their doubleheader on Sunday, increasing their win streak to five games. It was a picture-perfect Sunday for baseball in Charlottesville with hardly a cloud in the sky. 

Five-Run Eighth the Difference as Tom Sox Pick Up Third Straight Win

After two straight high-scoring wins, the latter being a 15-7 victory over the Staunton Braves, the Charlottesville Tom Sox remained home to face the Harrisonburg Turks. After dropping their first two matchups in Harrisonburg, the weather gods fought off the predicted thunderstorms with a mere drizzle to bring baseball to Charlottesville High School.

Tom Sox Hang 15 on Braves to Win Second Straight Game

With thunder in the sky, the Charlottesville Tom Sox faced off under the clouds against the Staunton Braves in search of returning their record to .500. The last time the ‘Sox played the Braves at home, they walked away with their highest scoring game as of yet. Charlottesville blew that record out of the water with a final score of 15-7, and a successful trip back to a .500 record.

Three-Run Ninth Propels Tom Sox Over Generals

The Charlottesville Tom Sox (4-5) snapped their two-game losing streak Wednesday, edging out the Waynesboro Generals (5-5) 10-7 at Kate Collins Field. The hitting struggles continued for much of the game for the ‘Sox. At one point of the game, they had five runs on one hit. They were able to get the bats going a little, recording seven hits total. It was a back-and-forth game throughout, but Charlottesville held on for a much-needed win.

Hitting Woes Continue for ‘Sox, Fall 12-3 to Braves

The Charlottesville Tom Sox (3-5) fell to the Staunton Braves (4-5), 12-3, at John Moxie Field on Monday. The Sox started hot in the first inning but were unable to score a run for the remainder of the game, while the Braves had their bats swinging from the get-go.

Tom Sox Fall to Turks in 1-0 Heartbreaker

With both teams hot off a victory last night, the Tom Sox headed to Harrisonburg to face the Turks in search of their fourth straight win. However, after eight and a half innings of scoreless baseball, the Turks were able to walk it off and win 1-0.

The weather has been perfect for baseball, but the Tom Sox’s offense has been anything but. The Charlottesville Tom Sox beat the Harrisonburg Turks 8-4, pushing their win streak to three games. Charlottesville took the trip over the mountain to Eagle Field at Veterans Park Tuesday night to improve to 14-6 and extend the divisional lead over Harrisonburg to three and a half games.

Tom Sox Best Strasburg twice in 2019 Title Rematch

The Charlottesville Tom Sox faced the Strasburg Express in a doubleheader Sunday, taking both games, 6-4 and 9-2, respectively. The matchup was a long awaited rematch from the 2019 Valley Baseball League championship game where the Tom Sox defeated the Express 4-1. It was only the second doubleheader sweep in team history for Charlottesville.

The Staunton Braves defeated the Charlottesville Tom Sox 7-3 on Monday in Staunton. This was the first time in the last seven games the Tom Sox were defeated by the Braves.

Charlottesville Tom Sox Split Doubleheader Against the Winchester Royals

The Charlottesville Tom Sox took the field late on Father’s Day and split a doubleheader against the Winchester Royals, winning the first game 3-4 and losing the second one 7-0. A back and forth first game went into an extra inning, but a double from Wyatt Langford (Florida) gave Charlottesville their second consecutive home walk-off victory. The second game was all Winchester, resulting in a 7-0 loss.

Tom Sox Hot on the road at Covington, win 10-4

The Charlottesville Tom Sox moved to 3-0 on the season against the Covington Lumberjacks with a 10-4 win on the road Saturday night. Lately, walks have been the Tom Sox’ worst enemy, but tonight, they were the team’s best friend, with Covington walking 13 Tom Sox batters, while Charlottesville walked just four. The Lumberjacks also hit four batters throughout the night.

Harrisonburg Turks defeat Tom Sox on the road, 3-1

On Friday night, the Charlottesville Tom Sox were defeated by the Harrisonburg Turks at James Madison University for the first time this season by a score of 3-1. Earlier this season, the Tom Sox beat the Turks on the road, 8-5, but tonight was a different story, as hitting was lacking for the Tom Sox in a game that contained many controversial calls.

Walk-off Double Secures Win for Tom Sox over Staunton, 7-6

The Tom Sox played the Braves at Crutchfield park on Thursday night, their fourth game in an eleven game stretch. Inconsistency was once again the name of the game for the Tom Sox until a walk-off double from Trevor Candelaria (Davidson) sealed the deal, winning 7-6, elevating Coach Koehler’s squad to an 8-2 record. 

Six-Game Winning Streak Snapped, Tom Sox Lose 7-2 to Generals

Heading into their matchup against the Waynesboro Generals, the Tom Sox had won their past six contests and were undefeated at home. However, both of these streaks came to an end Wednesday night, as the Generals bested the Tom Sox 7-2.

Tom Sox Battle in Rematch with Covington, Leave Victorious, 9-7

Tuesday night, the Charlottesville Tom Sox faced the Covington Lumberjacks for the first time since their home opener, this time at Casey Field in Covington, VA. Tom Sox Ride Big First Inning and Solid Pitching to Fifth Straight Win Over Staunton on the Road

After a rainy day in Charlottesville ruined a Tom Sox doubleheader versus Front Royal Sunday afternoon, the Sox were back in action Monday night in Staunton. An explosive first inning of five runs gave the Tom Sox all needed to secure their fifth straight victory, winning, 9-2, and improving to 6-1 on the season.

Tom Sox Win Fourth Straight, Defeat Turks 8-5

The Tom Sox hit their way to an 8-5 victory Saturday night against the Harrisonburg Turks. The victory began a stretch of 13 games in 11 days for the ‘Sox, by far the toughest stretch of their summer schedule. A solid offensive performance aided the win, led by Ryan Dyal’s (Auburn) three RBIs. Improvement by Charlottesville’s pitching staff kept Harrisonburg bats quiet all night. The Tom Sox batters broke through with big innings in the third and sixth frames, all but securing a stress-free win.

Charlottesville Tom Sox Top Staunton Braves, 6-2

The Charlottesville Tom Sox faced the Staunton Braves for the second time in Crutchfield Park this week, leaving with another win, 6-2, powered by a hit-fueled second inning. The game was called early after weather intervened, bringing the Tom Sox seasonal record to 4-1.

Charlottesville Tom Sox Hand Staunton Braves First Loss of Season, Winning 5-1

After splitting Sunday’s doubleheader at Woodstock, the Charlottesville Tom Sox took the field against the Staunton Braves Monday night. A slow start from the Tom Sox was quickly forgotten after 5 runs in the fifth and sixth innings that secured the win. The Braves were able to get runners on base throughout the game, but the Sox’s pitchers were able to stop Staunton at critical moments, acting as the biggest difference maker. 

Charlottesville Tom Sox Split Road Doubleheader with Woodstock River Bandits

The Charlottesville Tom Sox played their first road doubleheader of the season on Sunday, June 6th against Woodstock, splitting the games with the River Bandits. After dropping game one with a score of 4-3, the Tom Sox came back in stellar fashion winning game two 4-1.

Tom Sox Defeat Covington Lumberjacks In Season Opener, 9-5

On Saturday night, the Charlottesville Tom Sox kicked off their 2021 season with a bang, defeating the Covington Lumberjacks 9-5 at Charlottesville High School in newly named Crutchfield Park. This was the first time the Tom Sox took the field in 668 days due to the COVID-19 pandemic, along with the first time since they won the 2019 VBL Championship.
