The Charlottesville Tom Sox (20-7) defeated the Harrisonburg Turks (11-13) Monday night by a final score of 4-0. With the win, the Tom Sox have won their fifth straight game and extend their lead in the South Division to six games.

Tom Sox Defeat Generals 7-4, Win on July 4 for First Time

The Charlottesville Tom Sox defeated the Waynesboro Generals 7-4 on Sunday, winning on July 4 for the first time. The Tom Sox and Generals have played every year on the 4th of July except for a rainout in 2016, and the Tom Sox were 0-4 all-time on the 4th before this game.

Tom Sox Struggle on the Mound, Fall to Waynesboro 14-9

On Thursday night, the Charlottesville Tom Sox (15-7) fell to the Waynesboro Generals (13-10) in a high-scoring matchup, 14-9. After losing to the Generals at home back on June 16, the Tom Sox looked to seek revenge against a division rival; however, the high-powered Generals offense overmatched Charlottesville.

Tom Sox Extend Winning Streak, Beating Harrisonburg Turks 11-6

The Charlottesville Tom Sox took home a second straight victory over Harrisonburg, winning 11-7. The Sox hot offense continued to dominate, scoring six in the third inning alone. The 11 run, 11 hit outing secured Charlottesville’s fourth straight victory.

Tom Sox Best Harrisonburg Turks on the Road, 8-4

The Charlottesville Tom Sox beat the Harrisonburg Turks 8-4, pushing their win streak to three games. Charlottesville took the trip over the mountain to Eagle Field at Veterans Park Tuesday night to improve to 14-6 and extend the divisional lead over Harrisonburg to three and a half games.

Tom Sox Best Strasburg twice in 2019 Title Rematch

The Charlottesville Tom Sox faced the Strasburg Express in a doubleheader Sunday, taking both games, 6-4 and 9-2, respectively. The matchup was a long awaited rematch from the 2019 Valley Baseball League championship game where the Tom Sox defeated the Express 4-1. It was only the second doubleheader sweep in team history for Charlottesville.

The Charlottesville Tom Sox fell to the Staunton Braves 10-4 on Friday night, moving to 11-6 on the season.

Tom Sox Defeat Lumberjacks, 3-1

The Charlottesville Tom Sox defeated the Covington Lumberjacks 3-1 on Thursday at Crutchfield Park.

On the Road, Tom Sox Fall 7-3 to Staunton

The Staunton Braves defeated the Charlottesville Tom Sox 7-3 on Monday in Staunton. This was the first time in the last seven games the Tom Sox were defeated by the Braves.

Charlottesville Tom Sox Split Doubleheader Against the Winchester Royals

The Charlottesville Tom Sox took the field late on Father’s Day and split a doubleheader against the Winchester Royals, winning the first game 3-4 and losing the second one 7-0. A back and forth first game went into an extra inning, but a double from Wyatt Langford (Florida) gave Charlottesville their second consecutive home walk-off victory. The second game was all Winchester, resulting in a 7-0 loss.

Tom Sox Hot on the road at Covington, win 10-4

The Charlottesville Tom Sox moved to 3-0 on the season against the Covington Lumberjacks with a 10-4 win on the road Saturday night. Lately, walks have been the Tom Sox’ worst enemy, but tonight, they were the team’s best friend, with Covington walking 13 Tom Sox batters, while Charlottesville walked just four. The Lumberjacks also hit four batters throughout the night.

Harrisonburg Turks defeat Tom Sox on the road, 3-1

On Friday night, the Charlottesville Tom Sox were defeated by the Harrisonburg Turks at James Madison University for the first time this season by a score of 3-1. Earlier this season, the Tom Sox beat the Turks on the road, 8-5, but tonight was a different story, as hitting was lacking for the Tom Sox in a game that contained many controversial calls.

Walk-off Double Secures Win for Tom Sox over Staunton, 7-6

The Tom Sox played the Braves at Crutchfield park on Thursday night, their fourth game in an eleven game stretch. Inconsistency was once again the name of the game for the Tom Sox until a walk-off double from Trevor Candelaria (Davidson) sealed the deal, winning 7-6, elevating Coach Koehler’s squad to an 8-2 record. 

Six-Game Winning Streak Snapped, Tom Sox Lose 7-2 to Generals

Heading into their matchup against the Waynesboro Generals, the Tom Sox had won their past six contests and were undefeated at home. However, both of these streaks came to an end Wednesday night, as the Generals bested the Tom Sox 7-2.

Tom Sox Battle in Rematch with Covington, Leave Victorious, 9-7

Tuesday night, the Charlottesville Tom Sox faced the Covington Lumberjacks for the first time since their home opener, this time at Casey Field in Covington, VA. It was a slugfest in Covington where the Tom Sox were able to walk away with a 9-7 win, their sixth straight, bringing their record to 7-1.

Tom Sox Ride Big First Inning and Solid Pitching to Fifth Straight Win Over Staunton on the Road

After a rainy day in Charlottesville ruined a Tom Sox doubleheader versus Front Royal Sunday afternoon, the Sox were back in action Monday night in Staunton. An explosive first inning of five runs gave the Tom Sox all needed to secure their fifth straight victory, winning, 9-2, and improving to 6-1 on the season.

Tom Sox Win Fourth Straight, Defeat Turks 8-5

The Tom Sox hit their way to an 8-5 victory Saturday night against the Harrisonburg Turks. The victory began a stretch of 13 games in 11 days for the ‘Sox, by far the toughest stretch of their summer schedule. A solid offensive performance aided the win, led by Ryan Dyal’s (Auburn) three RBIs. Improvement by Charlottesville’s pitching staff kept Harrisonburg bats quiet all night. The Tom Sox batters broke through with big innings in the third and sixth frames, all but securing a stress-free win.

Charlottesville Tom Sox Top Staunton Braves, 6-2

The Charlottesville Tom Sox faced the Staunton Braves for the second time in Crutchfield Park this week, leaving with another win, 6-2, powered by a hit-fueled second inning. The game was called early after weather intervened, bringing the Tom Sox seasonal record to 4-1.

Charlottesville Tom Sox Hand Staunton Braves First Loss of Season, Winning 5-1

After splitting Sunday’s doubleheader at Woodstock, the Charlottesville Tom Sox took the field against the Staunton Braves Monday night. A slow start from the Tom Sox was quickly forgotten after 5 runs in the fifth and sixth innings that secured the win. The Braves were able to get runners on base throughout the game, but the Sox’s pitchers were able to stop Staunton at critical moments, acting as the biggest difference maker. 

Charlottesville Tom Sox Split Road Doubleheader with Woodstock River Bandits

The Charlottesville Tom Sox played their first road doubleheader of the season on Sunday, June 6th against Woodstock, splitting the games with the River Bandits. After dropping game one with a score of 4-3, the Tom Sox came back in stellar fashion winning game two 4-1.

Tom Sox Defeat Covington Lumberjacks In Season Opener, 9-5

On Saturday night, the Charlottesville Tom Sox kicked off their 2021 season with a bang, defeating the Covington Lumberjacks 9-5 at Charlottesville High School in newly named Crutchfield Park. This was the first time the Tom Sox took the field in 668 days due to the COVID-19 pandemic, along with the first time since they won the 2019 VBL Championship.
