Tom Sox Drop Thursday Matchup to Braves

On a night where 2-time Super Bowl Champion and philanthropist Chris Long threw out the first pitch, the Charlottesville Tom Sox (16-5) could not echo the buzz felt through the ballpark, falling 7-3 to the Staunton Braves (11-10) on Thursday at Charlottesville High School. Charlottesville fell victim to an impressive pitching performance by the visiting side, mustering up only seven hits and three runs, their fewest at home this season.

Corbin’s Corner: Reflections from the Halfway Point

The Charlottesville Tom Sox (15-4) went 5-1 in another dominant week of VBL action to maintain their league-best record and expand their South Division lead to 4.5 games over the Harrisonburg Turks (10-8). After a two-game sweep of the Staunton Braves (10-10) on Saturday and Sunday, Charlottesville is riding a three-game win streak into the halfway point of the summer season, and with 19 of 40 ballgames in the books, Corbin’s Corner is back with some midseason reflections.

Seven Tom Sox Set to Participate in VBL All-Star Festivities

Seven Tom Sox players and coaches have been named as part of the Valley Baseball League's annual All-Star festivities, the league announced Monday (June 24). Five Tom Sox players – catcher Robbie Lavey, third baseman Johnnie Lopez, shortstop Ethan Gibson, and pitchers Daniel Powell and Marco Levari – will take part in Sunday's All-Star Game with Head Coach Randy Tomlin managing the South team. Additionally, Tommy Roldan will be the Tom Sox's representative in Saturday's Home Run Derby.

‘Sox Slug in Sizzling Heat for 11-5 Win over Staunton

The Charlottesville Tom Sox (14-4) blazed through Saturday’s summer heat on the road against the Staunton Braves (10-9) after a fast start from the offense. Capitalizing on multiple errors, stolen bases, and a major home run by Johnnie Lopez (Seminole State), the ‘Sox earned an 11-5 win to maintain their stranglehold on the VBL South Division.
