2023 VBL SOUTH PITCHER OF THE YEAR

2023 SUMMER

  • Made ten appearances on the summer, starting eight games
  • Finished the season with a minuscule 1.12 ERA in a team-high 40.1 innings, also striking out a team-high 49 batters and limiting opponents to a .176 average (second on the team)
  • Named VBL South Pitcher of the Year after sporting a 0.58 regular season ERA and 40 strikeouts across 31 innings
  • VBL All-Star, starting the game for head coach Lyndon Coleman
  • Allowed runs in only two of his ten appearances, including a 22-inning scoreless streak from June 29 to August 28 (including earned runs only)
  • Made debut at Culpeper on June 4, striking out four in a pair of hitless innings
  • Five strikeouts in three scoreless innings at Front Royal (June 11)
  • Earned first win on June 17 at Front Royal, striking out season-high six in four innings

  • Allowed only one hit and fanned a career-high four in four shutout innings in relief vs. Houston on 5/3
  • Did not allow a run in six of 11 appearances
  • Stranded eight of nine inherited runners
  • Pitched for Walnut Creek in the California League in the summer along with teammate Jack Ben-Shoshan
  • Made 10 appearances (9 starts) and was 1-2 with a 4.85 ERA and 1.72 WHIP. Fanning 28 in 39 innings

Tom Sox Face Turks for 2023 Valley Baseball League Championship

The 1-seed Charlottesville Tom Sox (32-18) will face the 2-seed Harrisonburg Turks (32-16) in a best-of-three series for the Valley Baseball League Championship beginning Thursday. Games one and three (if necessary) will be played at CHO Airport Field at 7 p.m., while game two will take place at Harrisonburg’s Eagle Field at Veterans Memorial Park beginning at 7:30 p.m.

CHAMPIONSHIP BOUND! Tom Sox Defeat Express 6-3 to Advance to Valley League Championship

After coming one out away from elimination on Tuesday, the Charlottesville Tom Sox advanced to their second-straight Valley League Championship series with a 6-3 win over the Strasburg Express Wednesday.

Five Tom Sox players received recognition from the Valley League for their performance during the 2023 season, as announced by the league on July 31 and August 1.

Tom Sox Set to Face Express in Playoff Semifinals

The 1-seed Charlottesville Tom Sox will face the 4-seed Strasburg Express in a best-of-3 semifinal series. The winner of this series will face either 2-seed Harrisonburg or 3-seed Winchester in the VBL Finals. Games one and three (if necessary) will be played at CHO Airport Field, while game two will take place at First Bank Park in Strasburg. First pitch for all games is set for 7 p.m.
