It was only a matter of time, but the future is now. Texas Rangers Manager Bruce Bochy announced Friday that former Tom Sox star Wyatt Langford, the fourth overall pick in the 2023 MLB draft, will begin his season on the Major League roster for the defending World Series champions.

Six Tom Sox Taking Part in 2024 Spring Training

Six former Tom Sox players are taking part in Major League Baseball’s Spring Training, being held across Florida and Arizona from February 22-March 26. The six players include four players who appeared on Major League rosters during the 2023 campaign, while two additional ‘Sox will appear as non-roster invitees for their respective clubs.

Langford Named No. 6 Prospect in Baseball

2021 Tom Sox standout Wyatt Langford was named the No. 6 overall prospect in baseball by MLB Pipeline, as revealed in an MLB Network special on January 26. Langford arrived in Charlottesville as a relative unknown in 2021 – taking only four at-bats in his freshman season at Florida – and became one of the nation’s best hitters following his summer in the Valley.
