Regional Recap: 24 Former Tom Sox Competed in NCAA Regionals

This past weekend, 24 former Tom Sox players competed in the NCAA Regionals, with their eyes set on getting one step closer to the College World Series in Omaha, NE.

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – This past weekend, 24 former Tom Sox players competed in the NCAA Regionals, with their eyes set on getting one step closer to the College World Series in Omaha, NE.

 

The ‘Sox were represented in 10 of the 16 Regionals across the country, including six players competing in the Conway Regional hosted by Coastal Carolina. Listed below are the players that made the NCAA Tournament.

 

2024 ‘Sox: Blake Brookins (Florida), Cade Belyeu (Auburn), Cale Stricklin (Auburn), Colby Wallace (East Carolina), Dean Mihos (Coastal Carolina), Ethan Sutton (Georgia), Frank Menendez (Florida), Jake Books (Coastal Carolina), James Hays (Stetson), James Taussig (UTSA), Landon Abrahamson (Dallas Baptist), Nick Parham (East Carolina)

2023 ‘Sox: Alex Bouche (East Carolina), David Utagawa (UC Irvine), Derek Williams (Miami), Hayden Smith (Kentucky), Jake Bennett (Dallas Baptist), Justin Thomas (Arkansas), Salvy Alvarez (Stetson), Sergio Rivera (Bethune-Cookman), Zach Root (Arkansas)

Only eight of the 24 advanced to the NCAA Super Regionals, which start this Friday. 

 

John Armstrong (Auburn), Cade Belyeu (Auburn), Dean Mihos (Coastal Carolina), Zach Root (Arkansas), Cale Stricklin (Auburn), James Taussig (UTSA), Justin Thomas (Arkansas), and Derek Williams (Miami) all are two wins away from reaching the College World Series starting on June 13.
